About this directory

Longneck.Directory is an independent directory of businesses on and around the Long Neck peninsula in Sussex County, Delaware. It is not affiliated with any community association, chamber of commerce, or any business listed here.

Where the data comes from

The 464 listings are built from the State of Delaware's public business-licence file, published through data.delaware.gov. We filter to businesses holding a currently-valid licence whose address falls inside the Long Neck footprint — ZIP 19966 plus the peninsula's main roads — and exclude sole proprietors listed at what appear to be residential addresses under a person's own name.

A business can hold more than one Delaware licence — one per activity type. Where that happens we show a single listing with all of its licence numbers, rather than repeating the business once per licence.

Coordinates are the state's own geocoding of the licence address, not a third-party lookup.

What we deliberately do not use

Nothing here is sourced from Google Maps, Google Business Profile or Google reviews. That data carries redistribution restrictions and republishing it would breach them. It also means we show no star ratings — we would rather show none than show someone else's.

Known gaps

• Most listings have no description, hours or phone yet. That is the honest state of the source data, and the claim flow is how it gets fixed.
• Delaware's activity codes are coarse, so a large "Other Licensed Businesses" bucket remains. We are sorting it by hand.
• A licence is not an endorsement. It means the business is registered with the state, nothing more.
